Triquetra Rings

In Celtic mythology, the number three is held in highest regard. The Celts believed the most sacred things had three aspects, such as the domains of the earth (earth, sea, and sky) and divisions of time (past, present, and future). This reverence for three is reflected further in their tripartite deities, triple knots found in their artwork, mythology tales centered around three repeated occurrences, and knowledge recorded in triad poetry. Inspired by these qualities and by my lifelong affinity for this number, I crafted these rings. They feature a Samhain-palette of stones flanked by sterling silver triquetra knots:

• dendritic quartz, size 5 // a stone of healing, grounding, and connecting to the natural world
• amber, size 6 3/4 // a stone of renewal, cleansing, and courage
• pyrite, size 8 1/2 // a stone of abundance, vitality, and luck
• dendritic agate in a solid 14k gold setting, size 7 1/2 // a stone of harmony, benevolence, and shedding of outgrown emotional states
• chocolate sapphire, size 10 // a stone of stability, intuition, and protection

Each ring sits on a triple split sterling band, and my maker's mark and .925 for sterling adorn the underside of the stone settings. The entire rings have been blackened and sanded to emphasize the spirit of these pieces.
