Nepenthes Pharmakon Pendant

✦ A chalice of heavy sterling adorned with poppies and their buds, with a serpent wrapped around the base and topped with a rose cut garnet. Blackened to appear as an ancient relic. Hidden bail on back. 18 inch chain.

✦ A chalice adorned with a brass sun eclipsed by a sterling moon, with three drops of wine-red garnets above. Has subtle cracks and dents to appear as an ancient relic. Heavy 18 inch chain.

These pendants were inspired by one of my favorite poems, The Garden of Proserpine by Algernon Charles Swinburne, which paints a stunning picture of Persephone in the Underworld, brewing poppy wine to ease the departed into the afterlife. It juxtaposes life and death in its imagery, perfectly complementing the original myth. My maker's mark and .925 for sterling adorn the back of each pendant.
