A natural rose cut garnet sparkles in the center of a weathered and battle-worn sterling silver shield. This stone recalls the myth of Persephone and the pomegranate seeds that sealed her fate, but also nods to the wearer’s own personal struggles and triumphs that contribute to their identity and strengths. Resting in each quadrant of the shield, various symbols represent the phases of Persephone’s journey and the corresponding times in the wearer’s life-narrative. A brass sun, a textured sterling pomegranate, a brass crescent moon, and a handmade sterling skull call to the cycles of life and death, light and dark, prosperity and lack, and each element merges to create the whole. My maker's mark adorns the back, beneath the remnants of a healed wound, a nod to everything the wearer has survived.
