The Fire Wheel Medallion Necklace ✦ 24 Inch Chain ✦ Bealtaine Collection
I crafted this necklace as an ode to the oldest rituals surrounding the Irish pagan fire festival of Bealtaine. On this day, flowers, bright colors, and general merriment take over as the earth resumes its verdant dance once more. Bonfires burn throughout the countryside and the smoke is used to bless livestock, crops, homes, and people alike. Divination, fertility rituals, protection magic, and feasts unfold surrounded by fires and flowers. In this necklace, a natural Baltic amber glows like a Bealtaine fire, encircled by a cast snake eating its own tail. This formation echoes the ever turning wheel of the year and the four fire festivals that marked the passing of time in ancient Celtic culture. My maker's mark and .925 for sterling adorn the underside of the pendant, and the entire piece has been blackened and polished to highlight the details.
