According to Greek mythology, it is thanks to Persephone and her yearly descent to the underworld that we are given the Autumn Equinox and the most magical season of fall. A handmade oak leaf reminds us of this myth, and within it are symbols representing various aspects of Persephone's tale: fiery petrified palm root represents the underworld over which she rules for half the year, a garnet signifies the pomegranate seeds which ultimately sealed her fate there, and a 14k gold fill crescent moon ties in the divine feminine, waxing and waning, and the cycles of life and death. My maker's mark and .925 adorn the backside of the oak leaf, and this entire piece has been blackened and polished to echo the mood of the myth. This piece hangs long and low on 30 inches of sterling chain, to be layered with slouchy fall sweaters and flowing dresses.
-- Details -- Sterling silver. 14k gold fill. Please note that gold fill is not the same as plated. It is a thick layer of gold bonded to base metal and will not flake or peel. Natural garnet and natural petrified palm root. Pendant measures 2 3/4 inches tall including bail. 30 inch sterling chain and clasp. Please note that due to factors such as neck and bust size and torso length, the piece may fall differently on the model than on you. You will receive the pictured necklace.
