Cailleach's Sceptre Earrings ✦ The Age of the Cailleach Collection
As the wheel of the year turns to the dark half, the Celtic crone goddess of winter rises. Using her ancient Druid wand of immense power, the Cailleach freezes the very lands she once helped to shape, ushering in the colder months in one moment of transformation. The mother of all the mythological tribes of Ireland, the Cailleach is at once bringer of life and death, embodying a potent duality. These earrings are inspired by these qualities of the crone of crones, the queen of the fairy realm, the bringer of storms and mover of mountains, the Cailleach. Winter storms swirl within two magnificent moonstones, faceted to sparkle at every angle. The blue hues echo The Cailleach’s blue skin, while the white striations nod to her hair that looks like frosty branches. A triple moon formation crowns each stone, embodying the cycles of life and death and the divine feminine. A Celtic knot takes the place of the full moon, further entrenching the cyclical nature of all things and echoing the ancient Celtic magic of this deity. Windows cut from the back of each earring allow for light to pass through these wintery gems. They have been darkened and selectively polished to highlight the details, and to create the air of an ancient jewel unearthed from the frozen land.
