The triquetra, a Celtic triple knot, is an ancient and powerful symbol. The Celts held the number three in great regard, and the triquetra is one example of that reverence. They believed the most important things had three aspects: the domains of the earth (earth, sea, and sky), the three realms of heaven, hell, and earth, and the gods, goddesses, and mankind. In short, it is a symbol of threefold completion. This ancient symbol sits above and below a rectangle of incredibly high grade Australian opal. This stone boasts large lime green sections of vivid flash, along with blue and yellow hues throughout. A split, floral etched shank adds a regal quality to this piece. It has been darkened, sanded, and polished to heighten its ancient aesthetic.
