Oak Magic Pendant - 30 Inch Chain - Healer // Poet // Smith Collection
A prismatic fire opal burns in the center of a handmade sterling silver oak leaf. It is crowned with a 14k gold-fill crescent moon, and a triquetra and citrine stone sit below it. Historically, Brigid is the patron goddess of Kildare, which in the original Irish “Cill Dara” translates to “church of the oak”. Brigid has been associated with oak trees since ancient times, and the oak groves where druids worshipped and performed rituals were said to hold her power. The root sense of the word “druid” itself is “oak seer” or “oak knower”. This high-grade fire opal reflects Brigid’s status as a fire goddess and the eternal flames used to worship her. Citrine brings abundance, a realm over which Brigid rules. My maker's mark and .925 adorn the backside of the oak leaf, and this entire piece has been blackened and rustically polished to echo the mood of the forest. This piece hangs long and low on 30 inches of sterling chain, to be layered with slouchy sweaters and flowing dresses.
-- Details -- Sterling silver. 14k gold fill. Please note that gold fill is not the same as plated. It is a thick layer of gold bonded to base metal and will not flake or peel.
